Get Real DVDThe ‘Get Real’ DVD is a new national presentation aid for use by the Scottish Police Service, which will enhance the way messages about substance misuse are delivered by police across Scotland. ![]() The DVD has been developed by the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency in partnership with Scottish police forces, and was produced by Strathclyde Police Audio Visual Unit. The resource was funded jointly by the Scottish Executive ‘Know the Score’ information strategy and Scotland’s eight police forces. ![]() It covers information on alcohol, tobacco and solvents, as well as illegal and prescription drugs, and is aimed at a wide range of audiences. Get Real contains a number of video clips detailing the real life effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco on individual users, their families, and the wider community. It also contains examples of alternative healthy lifestyles. In addition, the disc contains information and graphics on the law, the effects of drugs on the body, and photographs of individual drugs. ![]() The DVD also contains a number of set presentations, which are categorised either by age group, or by subject. The presentations were developed by existing drug education practitioners and reflect the specific issues currently covered by forces during the various stages in a pupil’s school career. The remainder reflects the type of presentations most commonly delivered.
