NEWS
In general, the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) does not comment on operational matters. However the Agency may periodically give an indication of the work it undertakes. This may take the form of News, Notices and Media releases.
In keeping with the Agency's aim of preventing and detecting serious and organised crime, including drug trafficking, the SCDEA is involved in complex and wide ranging operations involving multi-commodity drug trafficking. This involves close partnership working with the other police forces throughout Scotland, the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The Agency also works closely with, and has joint working and intelligence sharing arrangements with police forces and other Law Enforcement Agencies nationally and internationally.
RAISING THE STANDARD AGAINST ORGANISED CRIME
The Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency is to have its staff numbers boosted by more than 25 per cent over the next two years as part of a major new drive against serious organised crime. The £4 million Scottish Government funding package over the next 2 years spearheads a raft of initiatives launched by Scotland’s Serious Organised Crime Taskforce today.
The Taskforce today also published details of the ground-breaking ‘mapping’ initiative which, led by the SCDEA in partnership with Scottish police forces and other partners has developed the clearest ever picture of the scale and threat of serious organised crime in Scotland.
